Of the various events making up the Diamond Jubilee weekend (2-5 June 2012), Tuesday’s service of thanksgiving for the Queen’s reign at St Paul’s Cathedral was the least popular. This is according to a YouGov poll for today’s SUNDAY TIMES in which 1,667 Britons aged 18 and over were interviewed online on 7 and 8 June.
Just 5% of the sample said that the religious service had been their favourite event of the weekend, peaking at 9% among the over-65s. The pop concert headed the list at 25%, followed by the river pageant (20%), the flypast and Buckingham Palace balcony scene (12%), and the carriage procession (6%). 23% appeared to have liked none of these events (corresponding with the 27% who had ignored the whole Jubilee as far as possible), with 10% expressing no opinion.
