Galliano was later (8 September 2011) convicted in a Paris court of anti-Semitic behaviour in two complaints and given a suspended sentence. In a subsequent poll (on 19 and 20 September 2011) YouGov asked 976 British adults who claimed to be interested in fashion (a disproportionately female sample) whether, in the light of recent events impacting Galliano’s reputation, they would wear clothing from his label. 16% said that they would still wear a Galliano item, 5% that they would have done in the past but would no longer do so, 61% would not have worn Galliano clothing in any case, and 18% did not know what they would do.
